Quartus: Connected

- Experience chamber music, live from your home

QUARTUS: CONNECTED is a private house concert that combines the elegance of your home with the excitement of a live concert. Also referred to as the "music of friends," chamber music was initially composed to be performed and enjoyed at home among friends. We find performances in this smaller scale provide a very different and much more personable experience for our audience.

Quartus: Connected shares the fascinating world of chamber music through performance and conversation, so our audience not only hears the music but walks away with a better understanding of the works presented. We especially enjoy hearing audience observations and interacting with our fellow music lovers.

“Quartus Chamber Players have a gorgeous sound as an ensemble and a natural fluid sense of phrasing that made the music [from last night’s concert] so engaging and vibrant. They navigated through rhythmic intricacies with ease and played with a buoyant sense of fun even in the most demanding passages. I love watching the different personalities of the Quartus players shine through their performance. Quartus is definitely one of the most dedicated and passionate chamber groups out there.”

Director, HCC Chamber Music Series

Described as "full of energy and vitality" by Joel Luks of CultureMap, QUARTUS CHAMBER PLAYERS is a Houston-based chamber music ensemble dedicated to making classical chamber music more widely accessible by bringing intimate and educational performances to the community. Founded in 2010, the string quartet quickly made waves in the active Houston music scene and has been presenting performances of diverse programming and ensembles ever since.

Quartus regularly collaborates with other arts organizations and incorporates acclaimed Houston musicians into its programming. These collaborations include multiple sold-out performances with the Houston Chamber Choir and two subscription performances with Aperio, Music of the Americas. Quartus has been featured in the Houston Community College Chamber Music Series, the Margaret Alkek Williams Crain Garden Performance Series at the Methodist Hospital, and the Noon Concert Series at Travis Park United Methodist in San Antonio, Texas. In addition, Quartus is a frequent guest on The Front Row, a premier arts news radio program on Houston Public Radio. Quartus in Recital was introduced in 2013 as a way to feature one or two of the members of Quartus Chamber Players and bring an even more intimate setting to our chamber music concerts.

In addition to its regular concert series, Quartus Chamber Players developed an educational outreach program to supplement its goal to enrich and enliven the community. The quartet introduced Quartus in the Classroom in its very first year, believing that bringing chamber music to the classroom is important in cultivating future generations of artists and audiences. Through the program, Quartus reaches around one thousand students a year. In 2011, Quartus began its partnership with Aperio, Music of the Americas, a fellow Houston chamber music organization, to extend the reach of the Classroom program, and beginning in fall of 2012, Quartus joined the roster of Young Audiences of Houston to further this effort. Quartus Chamber Players is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization.
